Web developer – Craft CMS (local/remote) LOCALPERMANENT

Job Description

We are a tiny team of web professionals based in Rostock, specializing in Craft CMS and Laravel. We're hiring another programmer to help us build more awesome web apps and sites for our clients.

About the job

We're looking for someone to work with us on our Craft based projects which go from straight-forward marketing sites all the way to full-blown online platforms.

You'd spend your time developing and improving existing projects, for example:

  • Designing and developing Craft's content architecture
  • Implementing designs using modern front-end technologies
  • Building custom modules & plugins in Craft's ecosystem
  • Prototyping and building out product ideas that we (and maybe you) have

We're three people right now (you'd be number four) which means that even though we each have our areas of expertise, we all wear many hats. We're looking for a programmer, but you'd also help out with things like:

  • Managing issues and fixing bugs
  • Writing and improving the documentation for the projects we have
  • Maintaining projects of our loyal clients
  • Participating in the lovely Craft community and attending the next Dotall in Amsterdam

Here are a few recent Craft projects you might have worked on if you were already part of the team:

  • Designing and building a digital conference tool based on Vue.js and TailwindCSS for one of our clients to help them transition their yearly physical conference into the online world, including live-streams and a neat picture-in-picture feature
  • Developing the application platform including a data import API for the Ministry of Justice Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany
  • Developing the site for the marketing campaign of "berlin baut auf dich" including a sticker generator and "Opinary"-like poll plugin

About you

We're looking for someone with strong CMS experience (preferably with Craft CMS) and with good front-end skills. More important than specific technical skills though is that you're a strong problem solver who loves to learn — we're not experts in everything and we don't expect you to be either.

You might not call yourself a designer, but you know great UI design when you see it and you know when something isn't up to par.

We don't care if you went to school, we just care about what you can do and how you do it. We're all just makers and tinkerers, so as long as you love to build awesome stuff you'll fit right in.

Here are some of the technologies we work with day-to-day right now:

  • After grappling with ITCSS, BEM, Bootstrap and the like for many years we are all in on TailwindCSS from day one.
  • We left jQuery behind a couple of years ago to be open for component-oriented front-end technologies. Currently we are using Vue.js, Vanilla JS and Twig. We are also interested in wild things like Alpine.js, Livewire or Sprig.

Pay and benefits

We'd like to welcome you in our office in the heart of Rostock but we're also open for a remote team member. The position is full-time (down to 30 hours per week is also possible).

The salary for this position is between €20k – €40k based on experience and working hours.

The position includes 24 days paid time off, depending on the working hours. You're off on your birthday and we close our office between Christmas and New Year. You're also free to take additional time off here and there as needed for any reasonable reason, like of course if you are sick, but also if you need the morning off to take your pet to the vet, or need an afternoon off to drive a loved one to the airport, whatever. At the end of the day all that matters to us is that we're making progress on what we're building together.

We are committed to working at a sustainable and healthy pace, and we believe 6-8 hours is more than enough time to get a solid day's work done.

How to Apply

To apply, write something specifically for this position that tells us why we're a great fit for each other, and what you see the future being like if we work together. Tell us why you prefer Craft over other solutions. Is there a project or feature you'd love for us to build together? Tell us about that too!

We don't ask for your resume but that doesn't mean we're not interested in what you've worked on in the past, we're just leaving it up to you to tell your own story the way you want to tell it.

We understand that not everyone has the same amount of time to dedicate to their application, so don't feel like you need to spend 10 hours on it to stand out. As long as you sound like someone who could be a great fit when we're actually working together day-to-day with the same time constraints, we really want to meet you.

You can apply in German or English, whatever you prefer. We are German native speakers but we are open for English as well.

Can't wait to hear from you!
