Work With Craft

Studio Locale is looking for a Web Developer to join the team.

As a web developer at Studio Locale, you’ll collaborate with a talented team of designers, marketers and fellow programmers on location in our Downtown Kitchener office to create modern websites and applications. You will focus on the development of marketing and communications-focused websites for businesses and nonprofits. You will take on website maintenance and content updates for existing projects. Your role may also include developing custom applications.

The commitment will be full-time on contract for 6 months with the opportunity to become full-time permanent in the future. Our office operates as a hybrid working office - with team members being able to work both remotely and in the studio.

Who We Are Looking For:
The successful candidate will have the technical skills and experience necessary to be able to hit the ground running when they start because although you will have access to our development lead, there will be minimal technical training time available. You have a passion for creating outstanding UI / UX experiences and are excited to collaborate with our visual design team on the finest details that take projects to the next level. You have high attention to detail, reducing the need for others to proof your work.

You are also able to show flexibility and excellent time management skills, as you move between various projects. Lastly, while all communication with clients is done through the project lead, strong communication and collaboration skills are required to work with internal and external team members.

Job Responsibilities:

• The complete development of marketing and communications focused websites that span from single pages to large content managed systems
• Work closely with our design team to translate designs and prototypes, created in programs such as XD and Figma, into working, production-ready experiences
• Maintenance and troubleshooting of existing website and applications
• Content entry and updates
• Development of custom web-based applications
• Providing training and creating documentation for the content management system and custom applications you develop
• Collaborate with account managers and designers to provide input on what’s possible technically and within the scope of each project
• Staying on top of the latest technologies and bringing new possibilities to our projects

Job Requirements:

• Extensive experience developing mobile-first, responsive websites using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript without relying on themes or CSS frameworks
• Experience customizing and integrating content management systems starting with Craft CMS (Additional knowledge beneficial: Headless, ExpressionEngine, WordPress, etc)
• Experience with Vue and Nuxt
• Experience with exporting graphics that are optimized for performance
• Browser testing and quality assurance using Browserstack
• Website performance optimization
• Knowledge of AODA AA accessibility requirements. Experience auditing and testing with screenreading technology is a plus.
• Experience with PHP and MySQL
• Experience with CSS: LESS, PostCSS, SASS, and Tailwind
• Familiarity with Webpack and NPM, cross-browser compatibility, and with GIT
• LAMP/LEMP server management
